Alessandro Di Giampietro , based in Europe, works as fashion photographer and artist since 2002.
His work springs from the observation of human identity and focuses on the multilayered personae delivered in today's society. It explores human rituals and practices around the body and the games people play that induce a changeover from one iconic archetype to another.
Eachwork is an attempt to reconstruct a performance in which the border between reality and fiction vacillates just as when human beings are under the spell of habitual social behaviour.
He looks for the primeval essence accustomed to camouflage that unleashes its power when he asks his subjects to play with masks and props to disclose the depths of their being, revealing unsaid wishes and secrets.
This process allows him to connect with the intimate energy that he sees in the people he takea a picture of, both in staged portraits and in snap-shots. His work focuses mainly on portraits because he is fascinated about the unspoken negotiations each human being enacts with himself/herself in order to emote. These rituals, for him, express an instinctual magic that underscoreseach person's uniqueness and that define the meaning of individuality at large.

Some of his photograpic work was published by relevant magazines, such as Butt Magazine, Rolling Stones, Dazed and Confused, Oyster, Spex Magazine, Marie Claire, Vice, Nylon, Caffelatte, Neo, A magazine and some more.
