HOLLYWOOD, CA. March 24, 2004 -- Luigi Campanile, Executive Director of LAIFAFEST, announced today that "OUR ITALIAN HUSBAND,"(Mariti in Affitto) a film starring actress Maria Grazia Cucinotta, Brooke Shields and Chevy Chase will be the Opening Night Film Presentation for the Sixth Annual Los Angeles Italian Film Awards, which will take place on Tuesday, 20 April at 7:30 PM, at the Arclight Cineramas (6360 Sunset Boulevard Hollywood), and run until Sunday April 25.
OUR ITALIAN HUSBAND, the directorial debut feature of filmmaker-actress Ilaria Borrelli produced by Massimo Cristaldi and Brandi Savitt starring Maria Grazia Cucinotta, Brooke Shields, Chevy Chase and Pierfrancesco Favino, is a romantic comedy that tells the story of an Italian woman who flies across the Atlantic to New York City in search of her husband and finds him married to another woman. Two wives, four children and one husband must find a way to survive . . . together.
“This is the first time the film will be shown in Los Angeles and we anticipate audience reactions to be very strong based on the story, great cast and tremendous feedback we are receiving from international audiences,” says David Jackson, President of Showcase Entertainment. "We’re thrilled to kick-off this year's festival with "OUR ITALIAN HUSBAND," said Campanile. "Borrelli's film it_s the kind of movie that will appeal greatly to our audiences.
"ROMA" a 15 min.short-film by Sergio Premoli will be screening prior the film. It is the story of an antique dealer with his corrupt life and Roma his wife who accepts to be a prostitute for the the love that she has for Giorgio, her corrupt husband.
Tickets for the Opening Night Film Presentation including the after-party are $35.00 and will be on sale from Friday 2 April, at the Arclight Box Office. This event is expected to sell out fast, so it is recommended that tickets be purchased in advance.
This years festival is dedicated to Paola Campese who died of Luekemia on February 9, 2004 at the age of 31, and she was a supporter of LAIFA. 20% of all ticket sales will be donated to THE LEUKEMIA FOUNDATION in Paula_s name.
