Ref: Historical Archive of the International Festival of films on Art and the Lives of Artists.
From 1973 to 1986 Asolo played host to the international Festival of Films on Art and the Lives of Artists which was a tremendous success and increased Asolo’s international recognition as a place renowned for beauty of landscape and sites of historical interest as well as for cultural events of wide public appeal.
The international Festival of Films on Art and the Lives of Artistshas now been revived and is bound to be a must-see for all those who want to keep pace with cultural developments and are interested in whatever cultural proposals our region has to offer.
At the same time a parallel new initiative has been taken: the building of the Festival’s Historical Archive of fundamental importance to the festival and its history, the purpose of which is to collect and put together the cultural heritage resulting from the Asolo Festival of Films on Art and the Lives of Artists (at the time the only festival of its kind in the world) and also to rescue from oblivion the ingeniousness of the many directors who took part in the festival’s past editions. The historical archive will enable movie directors, scholars, students, TV stations, film houses and so forth freely to consult all award-winning material collected from past editions.
In order to set up an exhaustive archive we ask all production companies, TV networks both private and public, university institutions and departments, movie directors, publishing houses, private collectors and all those whose activity was related to the festival, to let us have copies of videos and films of past editions (from 1973 to 1986 and later), as well as any other sort of material pertaining to the festival. Once completed the archive will be made accessible to the general public on the internet.
Individuals, companies and institutions making donations of festival-related material will have their names and logos cited, along with a brief informative note, on the online list of contributors.
This is a NON-PROFIT initiative.

Today a need for showing to good advantage a multiplicity of new resources that have developed in the past few decades in the Veneto along with an ever growing circulation of images and research into the field of visual arts make Asolo the perfect place to draw such public attention as could prove beneficial to both economy and the arts.
