Kanye West Disrupts Fashion Week Like Everything Else

Word on the street is that Kimye Baby Daddy and emerging normcore designer, Kanye West, will be unveiling his newest Season 3 collection at New York Fashion Week in Madison Square Garden at 4pm on February 11th (the first day). At the same time (because why not) Kanye will be streaming his newest album Waves in select theaters worldwide. You can buy tickets here. Yes, it is on ticket.kanywest.com. Because, of course it is.

According to a source from Page Six, West is "not performing," and it will "like an album party and fashion preview" for his latest collection. The source also mentions that contemporary artist Vanessa Beecroft will be performance.

Kanye managed to garner more press as he recently pulled a 'Kanye' by announcing his schedule only a couple weeks before the event. The Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) manages and hosts the digital calendar for NYFW. The digital app version was created so that designer, editor and buyer calendars to not conflict with show times. Somebody forgot to tell Kanye.

Former Banana Republic Creative Director, Marissa Webb, and Rhianna-favorite Adam Selman (we have him to thank for the Swarovski crystal naked dress) have both rescheduled their shows after word of Kanye's show schedule time release.

According to Fashionista.com, Marissa Webb's PR team sent out a message regarding the change: "Due to unforeseen circumstances, we are 'swishing' the time of the show to 3 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 11. Sorry for making 'waves.'" Oh.

This might sound familiar.

Anne Bowen of Nomad VII told WWD in September 2015 after Kanye's last-minute show announcement: "Kanye knows he is a media sensation and it is just not ethical to do this. It’s like we are David and he is Goliath. We have put our heart and soul into our show, and should not be stepped on like this."

Watch the NYFW shows live online at FashionWeekOnline.com starting February 11th. You know, just in case your local theatre is sold out.
