Pretty as a petal! Marisa Tomei cuts a ladylike figure in floral mini dress at the Independent Spirit Awards

She was clearly ready to welcome springtime.

Marisa Tomei dressed for the changing seasons at the 2016 Film Independent Spirit Awards sponsored by Heineken in Santa Monica on Saturday.

The 51-year-old actress cut a ladylike figure in a floral mini dress as she presented at the star-studded ceremony.

The Oscar-winning actress showed off her sculpted stems in the feminine white frock which was adorned with pastel wild flower embellishments.

Her silky honey tresses fall past her shoulders and were tucked behind her ears to show off the vintage jeweled earrings she wore.

She looked youthful as her make-up was kept to a minimum but the My Cousin Vinny favourite added a touch of smokey matte eye and pale pink lip.

Marisa accessorized her ensemble with bright red stilettos to add a pop of colour and she carried a chic white and gold clutch.

The Emmy nominee was all smiles and gave a quick wave as she entered the A-list affair in dark Ray-Ban shades.

Variety announced in early July that Marisa Tomei would be portraying Aunt May Parker in Captain America: Civil War and in the Spider-Man reboot.

As an ageless beauty, it is no wonder many fans are skeptical about whether she could pull off the role of an older woman in the upcoming superhero flicks.

And immediately after the announcement there was a Twitter backlash to the star's casting, with fans claiming she was much too young and 'too sexy' for the role.

Previously, Aunt May has been played by older actresses, with Rosemary Harris, then 74, portraying her in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man, and Sally Field, then 66, in Marc Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man movies.
