The LG V20 was an awesome iphone glass replacement . Though only available in the US, sorry, UK punters, the handset proved popular with consumers and has, in recent years, allowed LG to develop two, distinct flagship brands.

The LG G7 is expected to launch in January 2018, as usual, but LG will attempt to buffer out the remainder of 2017 with another release in the UK, USA and Europe in the form of the LG V30.

LG’s V-series of phones were previously only available in the US, however, after mounting competition and drops in market share, LG is looking at establishing its V brand in the UK and Europe.

The LG V Series of phones are getting quite popular in the US as well. Back in 2016, following the release of the LG V20, LG said it was selling around 20,000 units a day – twice as many as it did for the V10.

In 2017, you’d expect the V30 to do even better. I mean, it will have an improved design, better specs, and, if LG’s usual plan of attack is in place, it should be one of the first handsets to run Android Oreo.

This move makes a lot of sense too – Samsung has its Note and Galaxy S lines, so why can’t LG have two flagship brands? Competition is going to be insane during Q4 and Q1 2018, with the release of the iPhone 8, the Galaxy Note 8, and then, in Q1, the L7 and Galaxy S9.

Viewed in this context, it certainly makes sense for LG to be pushing with two flagship iPhone parts versus just the one.

Both handsets – the V30 and G7 – will use OLED displays as well, which should result in some seriously impressive visual performance.

“Like other V-series devices,” reports 9t05Mac, “the V30 will offer a second display, but rumors pin that display as being one that slides out from under the standard display to offer functions like a keyboard, contextual-buttons, search results, and more.”

Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 CPU will almost certainly feature, as will 6GB of RAM and, potentially, Android Oreo, though the latter aspect depends entirely on when Google releases the update.

The report claims the LG G7 will run Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 845 CPU, which will replace the Snapdragon 845 CPU in 2018. This chipset has not yet been announced, however, so expect more news about this setup later on this year.
