First comes love, then comes marriage. But in-between those two, there’s a wedding to plan.

With more than 160 vendors on site, Fort Wayne Newspapers 2016 Bridal Extravaganza on Sunday is set to be a one-stop shop for brides-to-be, families and friends.

The first 300 registered brides will receive a tote bag containing a bridal planner and an issue of Fort Wayne Magazine’s “Weddings.”

Designer, author and bridesmaids dresses aficionado Randy Fenoli from TLC’s “Say Yes to the Dress” and “Randy to the Rescue” returns for a second year as the event’s guest speaker. He will also host the event’s fashion show provided by Touma’s Bridal Boutique and Brides & Beyond.

Fort Wayne Newspapers CEO Michael Christman says the event is close to capacity for vendors.

Aspire Plastic Surgery and Medical Spa is the presenting sponsor.

“We do a lot of events and this is probably one of my favorites because you see the young couples, and you see the excitement,” Christman says. “It’s an opportunity for them to see everything that’s needed, from the carriage rides to the trips and vacations to the DJs to the dresses to the tuxes to the jewelry.”

With the event scheduled after Valentine’s Day, Christman says the Bridal Extravaganza could be the first step for newly engaged couples.

“You see a whole gamut of emotions and excitement,” Christman says. “As soon as you walk in the door, you can, 99 percent of the time, pick out the bride.”

Chris Touma, head of operations for Touma’s Bridal Boutique, says he’s planning to showcase bridal gowns for the fashion show in a way that people don’t usually see them.

“We’re going to try something a little different this year with the music and the dresses taking center stage,” he says.

He says Touma’s will present “cutting-edge styles,” as well as a new bridal line called Pronovias. He says vintage elements, like lace, are currently on trend for brides.

“As far as trends go, I believe that brides pick them up from publications and TV shows, but I think they come to the Fort Wayne shows to see whether or not Fort Wayne has what they’re looking for,” Touma says. “It just gives us the opportunity to show Fort Wayne what we have to offer.”

Christman is hopeful that the Bridal Extravaganza is only the beginning to a happy ending for couples.

“I hope it’s a start to a great life and great relationship for the years to come,” Christman says. “It’s an exciting time for every one involved, and we’re excited to provide that opportunity for them.”
