2012 TV Innovator of the Year Award Winner to be Announced on eve of CES
AUSTIN, Texas, January 5, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --
Award Ceremony and Cocktail Party will take place from 19:00 on 9 January at the Monte Carlo Resort & Casino in Las Vegas
The 2012 TV Innovator of the Year Award will be presented to the "winner of winners" of the TV Innovation Awards, which recognize the most forward- thinking companies creating products and services that are changing the way people watch television. This year, the Awards Ceremony will take place at the Monte Carlo Resort and Casino in Las Vegas on 9 January, the eve of CES. Â
There are 14 TV Innovation Awards being presented, ranging from TV Performance to Advanced User Interface Solutions. Each award category is judged by a completely independent expert panel, and the winners of each category are then judged against each other to decide the overall TV Innovator of the Year.
Now in its third year, the Awards have grown to become one of the premier endorsements of innovation in television. They are administered by IMS Research, and according to its president, Ian Weightman: "One of the main reasons that the TV Innovation Awards have become so sought-after is that each entry is judged on a completely level playing field. This ensures that companies, ranging from the biggest names in consumer electronics to innovative start-ups can measure objectively how their products stack-up against those of their competitors."
The advancement of the multi-screen business model is a common theme around this year's finalists for the 2012 TV Innovator of the Year. Stephen Froehlich, Senior Analyst with IMS Research's Consumer Electronics group notes, "The amount of innovation happening to make multiscreen television a reality is truly stunning. The areas of innovation go well beyond electronics and software. Vital innovation is also occurring in design aesthetics, business processes, and even contract law to make multiscreen TV a reality. The judges have clearly recognized this, as many of the Innovator of the Year finalists relate to multiscreen video convergence."
The winner of the Innovator of the Year Award will be announced on 9 January at the IMS Research at CES Cocktail Party & Reception at the Monte Carlo at 19:00 in the East Ballroom. In addition, the winners of the 14 other categories will also be presented.
