The National Cyber Security Alliance (NCSA), a U.S. based non-profit organization and official coordinator of Data Privacy Day, today announced that it will celebrate Data Privacy Day 2012 by hosting "The Intersection of Privacy & Security," in Washington, D.C. on Thursday, January 26th from 2-4:45 p.m. GMT.Â This event will feature U.S. government officials and industry security and privacy professionals from Facebook, Intel, eBay, Comcast, AT&T, and MasterCard Worldwide.Â These key thought leaders will discuss the interconnectedness of privacy and security in theory and practice, and the event will be broadcast worldwide via Facebook's official live streaming channel. Â Â
"On 28 January 1981, the Council of Europe adopted Convention 108, the first legally binding international instrument related to privacy and data protection," said Peter Hustinx, European data protection supervisor.
