Small is Beautiful: The Berkeley Partnership Grabs 9th Place in The Sunday Times '100 Best Small Companies to Work For 2012' Awards
LONDON, February 27, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --
A London-based consulting firm has scooped a top ten place in the prestigious list of The Sunday Times '100 Best Small Companies to Work For' awards for 2012.
First time entrants The Berkeley Partnership came 9th out of 100 'Small Companies' recognised at the awards ceremony on Wednesday; and is the highest placed management consultancy in the top 100.
Berkeley scored particularly highly in areas related to team-work and the opportunity to give something back, and the judging panel was impressed by the strong sense of family staff felt in their teams (89%, a top 10 score), as well as the chance to take five paid days a year to help a charity. Â And although management consultants are known for their ability to talk, Berkeley are a team of 'listeners' - every consultant on an assignment is supported by a partner as 'listener', and with one partner to every three consultants, staff feel that the senior team listens (87%).
Partner Hadley Baldwin said he was thrilled that the company's efforts had been recognised in what was its first ever award submission.
"Clients like us because they get to work with experienced consultants with 'Big Four' experience, but without the army of 'juniors'," said Hadley. Â "They also enjoy the personal service that being part of a small consultancy enables us to provide."
Alex Ball, who joined Berkeley from Ernst and Young said: "I joined Berkeley from a 'Big Firm' advisory role. It has been really refreshing to join an organisation where everyone genuinely wants to get to know you, and you are not limited by grade structures or an assortment of internal policies. Â Berkeley is what you think all consultancies should be like, but many aren't."
Partner Mark Stafford, who was involved in pulling together the award submission, concluded:Â "Creating a stimulating, supportive and happy working environment has been a top priority for the firm throughout our twenty year history and we couldn't be more proud of this official recognition."
The Berkeley Partnership has 65 employees and made sales of £13.9M last year.  For the full article on how Berkeley scored please visit http://www.thesundaytimes.co.uk/best100companies
