AYLESBURY, England, March 7, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --

An Aylesbury B&B is enjoying the sweet taste of citrusy success after winning a Silver Award at the seventh annual World's Original Marmalade Awards, held at Dalemain Mansion near Penrith, Cumbria.

Arden Blackwell from Aylesbury's Ardenwood Bed and Breakfast received one of the marmalade world's most prestigious accolades for its Seville orange marmalade which it entered into the Hotels/ B&B  category and scored high marks for its appearance, colour, consistency, aroma and flavour. Ardenwood Bed and Breakfast makes its own marmalade to serve to guests.

Owner, Arden Blackwell said they were delighted to 'shred' the competition with their "Ardenwood " Seville Orange Marmalade: "We're delighted to win this prestigious award. Our guests always say our marmalade is delicious and this is proof it is!"

Over 1700 jars of marmalade from as far afield as Singapore and South Africa were sent by both artisan producers and amateur makers to the organisers of the quirkily British awards for judging by a prestigious panel of marmalade experts.

Awards and Festival organiser Jane Hasell-McCosh said: "I'm delighted that so many people, particularly small artisan producers, are still making their own marmalade, preserving one of our great British traditions."

The World's Original Marmalade Awards & Festival boasts the sponsorship backing of some of the most famous names in marmalade - Paddington, Mackays, Thursday Cottage, Jam Jar Shop and Fortnum & Mason. The event's 2012 beneficiaries are Hospice at Home and Action Medical Research.

We are rated number 1 on Trip Advisor for B&B accommodation in Aylesbury and can now be proud of our latest accolade , the Silver Award for our marmalade.

The marmalade is currently only available to Ardenwood guests at breakfast, and is not for sale, although this may change in the near future.

About The Marmalade Awards

These quirky awards were founded in 2006 by Jane Hasell-McCosh with the initial idea of preserving, growing and widening one of the most English of customs - making marmalade. They have gone on to generate a following far beyond Jane's wildest expectations and allow many different varieties of marmalade to come together and allow the judges the great opportunity to taste them all!

The Awards are centred on Dalemain Mansion, a Georgian stately home lived in by the same family for over 300 years, which also happens to hold a very rich archive of Marmalade recipes.
