Appointment of Chief Information Officer and Group Director Sweetdeal
LONDON, March 7, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --
Mecom announced today that it has made two internal appointments which will be key steps in the successful delivery of the new strategy, announced in January. Torben Lundberg has been appointed Chief Information Officer and Marc Leimann has been appointed to the role of Group Director Sweetdeal. Both of these new roles reflect Mecom's objective to become a more integrated organisation, ensuring that the group benefits from its scale and breadth of operations.
Mecom is delighted to appoint Torben Lundberg to the position of Chief Information Officer. Torben has been working for Mecom since 2008, and has over 15 years' experience in the media industry. During his time at Mecom, Torben has contributed a great deal to the success of the Group's technologies.
In his new role, Torben will focus on creating efficient, group-wide IT solutions, reflecting the Group's strategy to become a more aligned and unified organisation. Technology is key to Mecom's business, and Torben will be responsible for ensuring that the Group's IT solutions provide optimum platforms from which to drive the new digital strategy. In his new role, Torben also becomes a member of the European Management Board.
The appointment of Marc Leimann as Group Director Sweetdeal reflects the exciting growth that Sweetdeal has achieved in the past year under Marc's guidance. Launched in August 2010, Sweetdeal is now available in 89 cities and has over 800,000 newsletter subscribers who are averaging around 100,000 deals a month. In his new role, Marc will be responsible for identifying and executing new processes, technologies and partnerships to maximise the huge potential that Sweetdeal represents for the Group. He will additionally be responsible for the development of other international consumer sales products which can be implemented across the Group. Marc joined Mecom in 2006 and currently coordinates the consumer sales activities in Mecom's divisions.
Commenting on the appointments, Tom Toumazis (CEO) said "Three of the cornerstones of the new strategy are the increased importance of digital platforms, increased integration across the Group and a greater commercial focus on driving new revenue streams. To that end, Torben and Marc will have a crucial role to play in the delivery of this strategy, and we are delighted that we have people of this calibre who are driving our business forward. The quality of our people is one of Mecom's key strengths, and Torben and Marc embody the skills and expertise required as we implement our new strategic direction."
