LONDON, March 9, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --

Package holiday   expert, Thomas Cook, supports the Visit England campaign with two fantastic customer offers

More than a million people book a break in the UK through trusted travel retailer Thomas Cook every year, which proves that sometimes when looking for cheap holidays, there are bargains to be found right on our doorstep.

The travel giant's launch of their innovative multi-media campaign, It is a wonderful world, also coincides with Visit England's biggest national marketing campaign, promoting domestic tourism.

To mark these two momentous events, Thomas Cook has also announced it will be running its biggest Facebook competition to date, giving people the chance to win the holiday of their dreams - be that a round-the-world tour, a family trip to Disney with VIP treatment or a holiday for the extended family in Devon.

On the Visit England campaign, co-chief executive officer at Thomas Cook, Ian Ailles added: 'Having two formidable players talking about travel at the same time of year can only mean good things for the industry, encouraging people to book holidays now, whether it is an overseas break or a UK one.

'UK holidays are part of our heritage, with the first excursion from Leicester to Loughborough organised by Thomas Cook in 1841. Today, we are the UK's largest retailer of domestic holidays and sell over one million UK breaks every year, as well as being the official provider of short breaks to the London 2012 Olympic Games and providing more trips to UK sports events than anyone else. As a retailer of travel we provide our customers with the holiday that is right for them - be that one at home, abroad or both.

'We would though, like the Government to acknowledge that the outbound tourism sector is just as important to the UK economy as the domestic operators are.'

As part of the Visit England campaign, Thomas Cook has launched two fabulous offers:

  • Thomas Cook Sport is offering a striking 20.12% off Premier League Match Breaks at the start of the new season in August and September, including Premier League teams Manchester United, Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester City, Everton and Newcastle United.
  • And flexibletrips, UK's leading Dynamic Packaging travel provider and part of Thomas Cook's Independent Travel Division, is celebrating the lead up to the Olympics, the Jubilee and the extra bank holiday, with a fantastic a 12 per cent discount off the total price of any UK accommodation for 20 weeks, starting on Friday 9 March.

Don't just book it. Thomas Cook it.
