LONDON, May 4, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --

Lord Ashcroft has published It's Not You, It's Them: Research To Remind Politicians What Matters. The book is a collection of his political polling and commentary conducted since the 2010 general election. It draws together many of his most influential projects, full details of which can be found on his new website, LordAshcroftPolls.com.

From 2005 to 2010, Lord Ashcroft was Deputy Chairman of the Conservative Party, responsible for providing private polling to David Cameron. Since the election he has continued to conduct political research, which is now published in full. The work has won praise across the political spectrum as being reliable, professionally conducted and rigorously analysed - whether it produces encouraging results for the Conservatives or not.

It's Not You, It's Them discusses public opinion on issues including the economy, Europe, crime, immigration and the NHS, and detailed analysis of voters' assessments of the party leaders. It also gives Lord Ashcroft's analysis of strategic questions including the future of Labour and the Liberal Democrats, and the Conservatives' challenge in achieving a majority at the next election.

Lord Ashcroft says: "In my experience, people in politics are usually well motivated and want to serve. But they often find it hard to appreciate that the fact politics occupies much of their attention makes them different from (without wishing to offend anyone) normal people. They are prone to losing touch with people's priorities.

"To win elections, and to govern effectively, politicians need to know what voters really think - and that is what I am to tell them."
