Norwegian Fjords Take Home a Webby Award
OSLO and NEW YORK, May 22, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --
Visitnorway.com won in the Best Homepage/Welcome Page category for their 360 degree footage of the spectacular Geirangerfjord. The award-winning images allow the user to control camera zoom and position during a spectacular virtual tour of the fjords.
Norwegian director of tourism, Per-Arne Tuftin, is thrilled to take home a Webby: "We are very proud to be able to call this the best homepage in the world. We hope this will inspire more people to get up-close with the Norwegian fjords.
"The Geirangerfjord area is a UNESCO World Heritage site and we want to share this amazing part of Norway with the rest of the world. These images are the closest you will get to the Norwegian fjords without actually being there," Tuftin continues.
Since publishing these award-winning images, Visitnorway.com has since released a 360 degree film of a BASE jump in Stryn, Norway. The breath-taking video was filmed from a camera placed on the helmet of the famous Norwegian BASE jumper Jokke Sommer, while he was performing one of his daredevil wing-suit jumps. Feel the thrill for yourself here.
