The Nation's Family Values in Focus

Nearly a third of Brits (30%) consider sitting on the settee and watching a favourite DVD or TV programme together to be the nation's most special every day moment, a recent survey conducted by luxury bedroom furniture company Feather & Black reported.  

The poll showed that UK families still grab a moment every day to spend quality time with the kids. Whether it's reading a story or cooking, spending time with the children is a special moment shared daily.

The nation's everyday family favourite moments included:

  1. Sitting on the settee together to watch a DVD (30% polled)
  2. Reading bedtime stories together (23%)
  3. Eating dinner together (21%)
  4. Kids piling into bed with mum/dad on weekend (11%)
  5. Cooking/baking together (9%)
  6. Painting/drawing together (6%)

Interestingly, the most special everyday moment for women (35%) is reading bedtime stories together whereas men's favourite daily moment is sitting on the settee watching a DVD with the kids (35%). The age of British parents also plays a role with the over 55+'s citing their most special daily moment as eating dinner together  (35% of over 55's compared with only 16% of 18-34 year old parents). Those 18-34 year old parents however loved snuggling up on the settee with a DVD the most (32%).
