Turkey's leading spirits manufacturing company Mey İçki continues full speed ahead toward transforming Yeni Rakı into a global brand. One of the world's most valuable brands according to a 2012 report by Impact Databank, Yeni Rakı will be featured at a host of fun-filled activities at the 59th Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity. Already the world's number one aniseed spirit, Yeni Rakı continues to promote rakı worldwide as Turkey's national drink.

The number one aniseed spirit  in the 220 million liter market worldwide, Yeni Rakı is adding another communication platform : The Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity, which brings together the world's top advertisers, designers, marketers and trendsetters. Activities will include meyhanes, rakı tasting at the opening and closing galas, Yeni Rakı surprises on the streets of Cannes, and specially designed advertisements and promotions held throughout the festival. As a supporter of the Festival, Yeni Rakı currently reaches over fifty-five countries in Europe, the Middle East and the Americas.

After acquisition of Mey İçki by Diageo, Diageo Germany started to distribute Yeni Rakı last year in Germany, the largest rakı market outside Turkey.  The "Spirit of Istanbul" ad designed for Germany was broadcast on all German TV channels, and as of July 2012, waiters in 300 Turkish restaurants in the country will receive training in rakı and rakı service.
