AMD ha annunciato di aver fornito su licenza la tecnologiadei propri core grafici avanzati a QUALCOMM Incorporated, uno dei principalisviluppatori e innovatori nel campo delle tecnologie wireless e delle soluzionimobile data. L'accordo, che interesserà la prossima generazione di chipsetQUALCOMM, rientra nell'ambito dell'impegno con cui entrambe le società puntanoall'affermazione dell’ ecosistema di mobile gaming, implementandotecnologie grafiche allo stato dell'arte su una vasta gamma di dispositivipalmari mobili destinati ai consumatori di tutto il mondo.

L'accordo permetterà di integrare la tecnologia brevettataUnified Shader Architecture di AMD – introdotta per la prima voltaall'interno della console Microsoft Xbox 360 – nei chipset Mobile StationModem (MSM) di QUALCOMM, raggiungendo potenzialmente milioni di utenti ditelefoni mobili.

SUNNYVALE, CALIF. — Oct. 3, 2007 — AMD (NYSE: AMD) todayannounced an agreement to license cutting-edge graphics core technology toQUALCOMM Incorporated, aleading developer and innovator of advanced wireless technologies and mobiledata solutions, for next-generationchipsets. This intellectual property (IP) licensing agreement is part of eachcompany’s ongoing commitment to drive a strong mobile gaming ecosystemand unleash state-of-the-art graphics across a range of handheld devices todelight mobile consumers everywhere.

This agreement will bring AMD’spatented Unified Shader Architecture - first introduced in the Microsoft®Xbox 360TM gaming system - to QUALCOMM’s advanced MobileStation Modem™ (MSM™) chipsets, potentially reaching many millionsof mobile phone users.
