Moments and Gazes. Picasso as seen by Otero
16 June - 20 August 2008
The everyday atmosphere inPicasso’s studio, with his family and friends, is one of the main themesrunning through this new selection of images by the photographer Roberto Oterowhich the MPM will be showing next summer. With these photographs, the Museum, which exhibited the first selection in the summer of 2006, will revealPicasso’s more private, personal sphere, with the aim of giving thevisitor a different look at the man behind the myth.
Roberto Otero (Buenos Aires, 1931- Palma de Mallorca, 2004) is one of the photographers who had constant accessto the more private side of Pablo Picasso during the last years of his life, atthe artist’s home in Mougins, in the south of France. Otero’s archivecomprises more than 1500 images, which the MPM acquired in late 2005 and whichare an exceptional testimony to Picasso’s daily life and the creativeprocess that went into his work during the 1960s.

The Show Begins! SummerWorkshop
Just as Pablo Picasso did for thefamous ballet Parade, thechildren taking part in the MPM Summer Workshops will have to use both theirimagination and their hands to design the set and costumes for a special show.
To inspire them, what better thana look at the works by Picasso on display at the Buenavista Palace, or a visit to the MPM Library toview a film specially chosen for the occasion?
At the workshopitself, which runs from Tuesday to Friday, the young artists will use cardboardboxes, pieces of card, tempera, pompoms, felt, paintbrushes and other materialsto create, individually, masks and costumes and, as a group, the set.
The show will beperformed on the last day of the workshop for an enthusiastic audience offamily members.
