ClusterVision, aziendaspecialista in soluzioni cluster, storage e database ad alte prestazioni, è stato scelto dal CASPUR, il ConsorzioInteruniversitario per le Applicazioni di Supercalcolo con sede a Roma,per la fornitura di un nuovo sistema completoper il supercomputing.

 

Il cluster HPC (High PerformanceComputing) utilizzerà al proprio interno 512 processori AMD Opteron Quad-Core per un totale di 2048 core e una capacità dicalcolo complessiva superiore a 17 TeraFLOPS. Il sistema aumenteràla potenza di calcolo messa a disposizione degli utenti di CASPUR per condurrericerche in numerose aree come la biologia, la chimica, le scienze della terra,la finanza, la fluidodinamica, le nanoscienze e la fisica.

 

Questo nuovo cluster HPC, che sarà uno dei sistemi dalleprestazioni più elevate di tutta Europa, si candida anche all'attualeclassifica TOP100 che riunisce i supercomputer più potenti del mondo(www.top500.org).

ClusterVision to Deliver 17 TeraFLOPs Supercomputer to CASPURin Rome

 

ClusterVision,specialist in high performance compute, storage and database clusters, has beenselected by CASPUR (Inter-University Super-Computing Consortium in Rome) as supplier of itsnew supercomputer. The supercomputer will dramatically increase compute poweravailable to CASPUR's users for research in areas such as Biology, Chemistry,Earth Science, Finance, Fluid-Dynamics, NanoScience and Physics.

 

The High PerformanceCompute (HPC) cluster will be equipped with 512 AMD Opteron™"Barcelona" CPUs — equal to 2048 cores &mdash which providea total compute capacity of more than 17 TeraFLOPs. The compute nodes of thecluster will be interconnected by an InfiniBand DDR network and will have morethan 4.5 TeraBytes of total memory. The cluster will run theClusterVisionOS™, ClusterVision's Linux-based cluster software distributionwhich provides an integrated software environment for the effective use andmanagement of the system. The supercomputer will be one of the fastest of itskind in Europe and would feature on today'sTOP100 of fastest supercomputers in the world (see top500.org).
